Mechanical inter-row weeder

Most mechanical inter-row weeders have a dual function of regulating weeds and performing shallow tillage of the soil; this is the case, for example, with the hoe or the vineyard plow. Compared to chemical weeding, mechanical weeding of the inter-row represents a lower cost and helps preserve the soil beneficial fauna. However, while these tools are very effective on annual dicotyledons, grasses (regrowth capacity) and especially perennials (spread by rhizomes) can be more difficult to control.[1]
