An hoe with optical guidance is a hoe whose trajectory on the inter-row is continuously corrected by a computer equipped with a camera. This guidance system increases the efficiency of weeding and minimizes crop losses, thus maximizing yield.[1]

However, optical guidance systems are only effective under certain specific conditions; ideally, the pass is made on crops planted in rows (such as wheat, corn, beet, etc.) and weeds at an early stage.[2]
