Vineyard Renewal

Formerly carried out at a rate of 2% per year, vineyard renewal allowed vines to reach the age of 50 without too much difficulty. Currently, vine stocks struggle to reach this great age, mainly due to diseases of the wood. As a vine ages, it loses vigor and generally produces fewer leaves and grapes, but the grapes produced are more intense and flavorful. There is therefore a real challenge to ensure the longevity of vines to produce a quality wine. However, when old vines no longer produce, a replacement plan must be implemented to maintain regular yields. There are various strategies to replace old stocks:
- Complantation
- Uprooting and replanting of the entire plot
- Grafting over
- Stumping
