Management of phytopharmaceutical effluents

From Triple Performance

Phytopharmaceutical product effluents : these are tank residues, unusable phytosanitary mixtures, cleaning waters from spraying equipment (including internal or external rinsing), as well as liquid or solid effluents that have been in contact with products or resulting from the treatment of these tank residues, mixtures, waters, or effluents.

To manage tank residues, 3 good practices to follow:

  • Dilute the tank residue to 1/6 then spread on the crop;
  • Perform 2 or 3 rinses;
  • Dilute to 1/100 before emptying (once per plot per year).

Sprayer rinsing : External rinsing of the sprayer on the plot is allowed provided that the first tank residue rinse has been performed (this corresponds to the 1/6 dilution).

Warning:

  • All these operations must be carried out more than 50 m from water points, gutters, sewer openings and more than 100 m from bathing areas, fish farms, drinking water catchments, and only once per year on the same surface.
  • Do not perform these operations on permeable or frozen soil, steep slopes, during water saturation periods or precipitation.
