Lamium amplexicaule is a species of herbaceous plant in the Lamiaceae family.
It is common from North Africa to Asia. It can be found from sea level to 3,900 metres (in Tibet). It is an annual plant, sometimes prostrate, sometimes erect, but no taller than 25 cm. It has petiolate lower leaves and clasping sessile upper leaves. This species is hermaphroditic and can be cleistogamous or chasmogamous.()
