Prickly vetch or hirsute vetch (Vicia hirsuta) is an annual herbaceous plant in the Fabaceae family.

Ervilia hirsuta (L.) Opiz, 1852This is a rather small, hairy plant with alternate, pinnate, stipulate leaves (4 to 10 pairs of linear to oblong leaflets). The flowers are small and whitish. The fruit are black, hairy pods. Flowering begins in May. Height : 30 to 80 cm.


This plant grows in rocky meadows, on verges and roadsides and in cultivated areas, and is very common in Europe up to an altitude of 1,800 m.()
