When the slope is steep (>15%), production rows can be oriented perpendicular to the slope in order to limit the acceleration of water runoff and thus reduce erosion.

Conversely, when the slope is relatively gentle, it is preferable to cultivate/sow in the direction of the slope to allow the drainage of water.

Description

Advantages

  • Helps break the slope and thus limit the acceleration of water runoff.

Disadvantages

  • Requires adaptations.
  • Field operations may take more time.
