Elicitor substance

From Triple Performance
Viticulture Viticulture

The use of an elicitor substance allows the strengthening of the plant's natural defenses (accumulation of glucose in the leaves lowering the freezing point). Applied on the leaves 12 to 48 hours before the frost episode, this substance would be effective down to -5°C and would offer an average protection of 30 to 50% of the vineyard (according to manufacturers). The drawback of this technique lies in its short persistence (4 days). The cost of this method is around 60 €/ha.[1]
