Cynodon dactylon or Houndstooth Quackgrass is a species of herbaceous plant in the Poaceae (Grasses) family.

This species is sometimes referred to simply as "Cynodon", which is a misnomer, as Cynodon is its genus name, a genus made up of several species.

This houndstooth quackgrass is probably of European origin, but is now distributed worldwide.⁽⁾
