Production

The banana is the fruit or berry derived from the inflorescence of the banana plant. Bananas are very generally sterile fruits from domesticated varieties. Only the fruits of wild banana trees and a few domesticated cultivars contain seeds. Bananas are generally yellow with brownish spots when ripe and green when unripe.

Bananas are an essential part of the diet in some regions, such as Uganda, which is said to offer around fifty varieties of this fruit.
